Oh so close!

My flight leaves Seattle Wednesday morning at 7:25 a.m. and expected arrival in Almaty, Kazakhstan is 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3. Then I have to get to Karaganda but I won't know what day that flight is until I arrive.

Remember, Kazakhstan is 13 hours ahead of West Coast time. Just switch the a.m. to p.m., or vice versa, and then add one hour and you'll be with me.

I have an email address for this trip: candacehooper@hotmail.com.

There's still much to do before I leave. That makes me nervous but I know that it will all pull together. And if it doesn't, I'm still leaving!

It's HERE!

Well, I'm off! The LOI arrived Friday and I have been running around trying to get my Visa paperwork squared away (went out FedEx today at 2:00). There are lots of details to take care of and maybe I'm crazy, but I'm shooting for the first week in November. That means that several official documents are in transit and have to be returned, the housesitter needs to be called so that the dogs and cats are provided for, the gifts for the caretakers and Kaz officials will be acquired, and travel arrangements must be made.

It's starting to sink in that this may actually happen. There will be a child or children in my household within two months. No more quiet but now the laughter (and other noises) of little ones will fill the void. Watch out dogs!
