2010 Beach vacation

This was our first trip in our new-to-us tent trailer. We went to Grayland Beach State Park, which was wonderful. The trailer performed beautifully. I foresee many happy camping trips in our future. The dogs loved the freedom of sand and surf. We taught the boys to roast marshmallows over a campfire and make s'mores. And the boys just loved finding stuff, whether it was seagull feathers to adorn sand castles or big kelp strands to tie onto their ankles and jump over.

Vacation Part 3

Silver Dollar City in Branson was a blast, and so were the go-carts. I believe Lonya would give everything he owns for a go-cart!

Vacation, Part 2

One of the true highlights of vacation was meeting up with Anita Land, her son Davis, and her mother Joyce, who were our absolute favorite people during those awesome days in Kazakhstan. We also had the privilege of meeting Ed, Anita's father, whom Anita and Joyce talked about a lot when we were together overseas. Sue and I have so often talked about Anita and Joyce and wished we could see them again, and the boys were absolutely thrilled to see Davis, one of their oldest friends from Kazakhstan.
The boys were instant friends again, for not having seen each other 4-1/2 years. They were just three peas in a pod!

Vacation Part I

For summer vacation this year, we started out in Chicago, helping Grandma start packing up her apartment to downsize. Then we rented a car and headed down to Branson, Missouri to see Sue's sister who lives near the border in Arkansas. We explored Eureka Springs, trekked through a cave, and enjoyed some very sour candy.
